Position Overview:
Cumberland County School District is seeking a qualified Social Studies Teacher for the 2025/2026 school year. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching middle school students, fostering a positive and respectful classroom environment, and using diverse instructional methods to engage students in meaningful learning.
Key Responsibilities:

Demonstrate leadership within the school community and work collaboratively with colleagues, students, and families.

Create engaging and relevant lessons that align with common core and essential standards, integrating 21st-century skills such as global awareness, financial literacy, and civic awareness.

Incorporate technology into lessons to enhance student learning and ensure students develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and ICT literacy.

Assess students’ progress and work with them to develop teamwork and leadership qualities.

Adapt teaching methods for students with special needs and embrace diversity in the classroom.

Follow the NC Educators’ Code of Ethics and maintain professionalism, integrity, and respect for all students.

Participate in ongoing professional development and support continuous quality improvement.
Physical Requirements:

Ability to communicate effectively with parents, staff, and community members.

Physical capability to perform basic tasks, such as kneeling, sitting, walking, lifting, pushing, and repetitive motions.
Qualifications:

A four-year degree from an accredited institution.

North Carolina certification in the assigned teaching area.

For current certified teachers: official transcripts, NC Teaching License, and resume.

For residency candidates: official Bachelor’s transcripts, prior teaching license (if applicable), and resume.

For international applicants: evaluated foreign transcripts, Social Security card, work authorization, and resume.
