Position Overview:
The University of Nottingham is seeking a Research Associate/Fellow to join their research team in the Injury, Recovery, and Inflammation area. This role focuses on investigating outcomes of osteoporosis and its treatment using the Clinical Practice Research Datalink (CPRD) dataset, a large UK electronic health record dataset. The successful candidate will contribute to a National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) funded project.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in modelling and statistical analysis, and a willingness to apply various techniques to big data. The position provides opportunities to develop research objectives, collaborate with interdisciplinary academic colleagues, and expand the research portfolio in areas such as rheumatology, crystal arthritis, and prediction modelling.
Key Responsibilities:

Conduct research using cohort and nested case-control studies.

Develop research objectives and proposals for the NIHR-funded project.

Plan and execute research methodologies and techniques.

Present research findings clearly and collaborate with colleagues.

Extend research portfolio in rheumatology and related fields.

Contribute to academic teaching and mentorship.
Required Qualifications and Skills:

PhD (or near completion) in a relevant field (e.g., epidemiology, biostatistics, or rheumatology), or equivalent professional qualifications.

Proven experience in modelling, statistical analysis, and working with big data.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Ability to work collaboratively in interdisciplinary teams.

Strong initiative and creativity in identifying and developing research ideas.
What We Offer:

Salary: £31,637 to £39,355 per annum, depending on experience (minimum £35,116 with a relevant PhD).

Fixed-Term Contract until March 2026 (with the option for part-time, minimum 29 hours per week).
